The
Village of Johnstown adopted a Zoning Code in 1973. The Code was
designed for the protection and safety of Village property owners. It
also established particular areas of town for business, industry and
residential uses.
Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The
Department can be reached at 740-967-2600. Dan Glaze is the Building
and Zoning Inspector. Planning and Zoning Meetings are held the first
Wednesday of each month at 599 S. Main Street at 7:30 p.m.
There are many processes that are administered through the Zoning and
Building Department. These processes include: new construction,
rehabilitation of existing structures, new subdivisions, commercial
construction, fencing, pools, variances, home occupations, etc.
We recommend that you check with the Building Department before you
begin construction to see if you need a permit for the construction.
Below are various forms used by the Department for zoning and building
within the Village of Johnstown.
