Tax Director Karen Wilson has been with the village for several years. On the federal and state level, she has prepared and filed taxes for eighteen years. Her duties for the village include the collection of withholdings from employers and the distribution of all tax returns and quarterlies.

Tax preparation is available Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm.  Be sure to bring your W-2's.  If you prepare your own or have someone else prepare them be sure to attach all W-2s, federal forms if required, and sign your return.  A return is not complete without a signature.  The tax return may be mailed, or we have a silver mailbox at the southeast corner of the village administrative building for after hours drop off.

Extension requests for additional time to file tax returns must be received by the village tax office before April 15. You may do this with a copy of your federal extension form.  Note: Tax payment is due by the original filing due date or with the copy of the extension.  All tax returns must be postmarked no later than April 15 of current filing year or will be considered late and subject to a 10% penalty and 2% interest.  If you owe more than $100.00 for current tax year, or will owe more than $100.00 for the following tax year, you are required to pay estimated tax.

Starting in tax year 2004, quarterly payments not paid on time will be subject to a 10% penalty.  There is also a 2% per month charge on any unpaid balance. The due dates for quarterly taxes are as follows:

  1. April 15
  2. July 31
  3. October 31
  4. January 31
